Pope Francis, Can He Bring Change?

Pope Francis and the Vatican are central to the cover story in the August, 2015 issue of National Geographic,. There are talks of how Pope Francis is making changes that are uncharacteristic of the Pope and the Vatican.  One of the discussions is around removing celibacy as a requirement for priests.  How odd that the topic of celibacy would be open for discussion.  According to National Geographic, "The papal line begins with Peter, the disciple of Jesus Christ..."  When reading the gospel of Mark chapter 1 verse 30 "...Peter's wife's mother lay sick of a fever..."  according to scripture, the first pope was married.  Doesn't the Pope defer to the teachings of Christ, and the writings of the apostles and the prophets?

Why does the Catholic church forbid their priests to marry when Paul clearly stated that commanding not to marry is not scripturally based?

Living Simply and in Harmony

Life is the accumulation of experiences, thoughts, actions, and choices. If your life has become too big, or too complex, you can scale it down to fit your own needs. When you prove what the will of Almighty God is and follow through to do it, you can make room in your life for everything that matters.

To improve the quality of your life, all you have to do is to commit yourself to living simply and in harmony, internally within yourself, with other people, and with everything in your environment. Identify your purpose, live according to it, and reduce all of the distractions that pull you away from it.

Picture 2015 as the year to simplify so that you can improve the quality of your life.

Gratitude

Just recently, someone anonymously surprised me with a very generous expression of kindness. It was completely unexpected, which made the gift even more special and appreciated. Although I couldn’t thank this individual in person, not knowing who he or she was, I felt extremely grateful and warmed by the wonderful show of thoughtfulness. I experienced a feeling of true gratitude.

For many people, the month of November brings a holiday that commemorates thankfulness for what we have and who or what is important in our lives. But shouldn't we take an opportunity daily to reflect upon all of the many ways—both the grand and small—that so enrich our lives?

"Big Bang" or Creation?

While many scientists whole-heartedly embrace what is commonly known as the “Big Bang” theory, many people in religions believe that the creation of the heavens and the earth happened within one week that consisted of seven 24-hour days. Is it possible that the Holy Bible supports a theory like the Big Bang?

Vanity and the Ego

King Solomon wrote a truth. All is vanity. Ecclesiastes 1:1-2, 12-18. What does this mean? Vanity is defined as something that has no substance, meaninglessness, worthlessness, emptiness, and futility. All is vanity because everything in this life is temporary. God has subjected us to vanity in hope of salvation. Romans 8:20-24.
