Is The Bible True?

Is the Bible true? This question has probably been asked since the Bible was printed. Was it written by man’s wisdom or was it written through man by God’s inspiration? The Bible can’t be written by man’s wisdom. The contents in the Bible can be trusted as a message from God and His Son on how to live our lives preparing for a better life and promises to come.

Is there an almighty God that made us and the planet we live on? We live in a world full of turmoil and hate. Many people would naturally ask, is there a God and if so, where is he? Just for a second, set the Bible down and use the evidence that exists around you. How is it that every day and for thousands of years billions of people wake up and live? How is it that the planet is situated perfectly in the universe to allow you to eat and breathe? How is it that the animals of the earth know how to live and raise and protect their young? How is it that the plants which grow from seed are perfect in their way bringing the fruits and benefits to all living beings on the earth? Is all of this because of some freak accident, or has this been carefully planned out with a purpose?

Many think that the earth was created from an explosion and through time evolution brought us to today. If there were no creator and this earth and its inhabitants were formed by an explosion, that would be like saying the earth formed itself in all matters of physics perfectly from an uncontrollable explosion. Imagine an automobile in a junk yard exploding and falling together to form a perfect new car. That is how some explain the creation of the earth. It is more logical to understand that a higher being created us and the space we inhabit. There is a God. The Bible confirms much of God’s creation and through the evidence of creation it tells us we are without excuse to know that there is a God. (Romans 1:20)

Man on his own wisdom could not have written the Bible. It was put together by inspiration of God through the Holy Spirit. It is also with the Holy Spirit that man can understand the words in the Bible. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV) and “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (Spirit).” (2 Peter 1:20-21 KJV)

If the Bible were not true, would that discount that God sent his Son to the earth about 2,000 years ago? The world uses a calendar (2008) based on the time that Jesus Christ was on the earth. There are many prophecies spoken about Jesus Christ and about his death, thousands and hundreds of years before it happened.

We live in the most technological time the earth has ever seen and it has been prophesied thousands of years ago. Can you imagine the prophet Nahum trying to explain automobiles in which he has never seen but had a vision of them of a time prior to Jesus Christ’s second coming? “The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.” (Nahum 2:4 KJV) How about Daniel prophesying about the United States and Russia, some 2,500 years ago? “The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it. And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.” (Daniel 7:4-5 KJV)

Have you ever seen a rainbow? Over 3,500 years ago God flooded the earth because of man’s disobedience to him. God said afterwards that he would not flood the entire earth again and to prove his promise he would put a bow in the clouds while raining. This promise written in the Bible continues today. (Genesis 9:13-15) The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered beginning around 1947 and contained original writings from the Hebrew Bible bringing more evidence thousands of years later that the Bible is true. Many of Isaiah’s writings were found in the scrolls, matching what was written in the Bible. Skeptics say the Bible had been re-written over and over that the information is no longer accurate. God who prepared the word would not allow the meanings of the Bible to be lost or changed preventing people from learning the truth.
There are many other examples to use, such as historical facts recorded in the Bible which match encyclopedia books, genealogies that confirm the lineage of Jesus Christ, and scientific laws that cannot be disputed as being created by a higher being. NASA astronauts are great to ask if they believe in a God. Many astronauts have confirmed a God must exist after seeing the planet earth from outer space.

God made us. He has given us the ability to think, reason, and make choices. Like a child naturally reveres his father and mother, so should the creation revere or respect the Creator. “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26-27 KJV) and “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10 KJV)

The Bible is a compilation of Holy Scriptures put together for man. Through God’s inspiration Moses wrote about where man came from, why the flood occurred with Noah, and the start of a Jewish nation chosen by God, and the message to watch for the Messiah, Jesus Christ the Son of God. Many of the prophets from thousands of years ago reconfirmed Moses’ prophecy about God’s plan to send his Son to the earth and that we should listen to him. “The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;” (Deuteronomy 18:15 KJV) “I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.” (Deuteronomy 18:18 KJV) “And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.” (Acts 3:20-22 KJV)

After creating man, God is looking to choose those who revere him and choose to obey his desires. A time will come when all wickedness is departed from the earth and those left are the ones who desired to follow God and His Son. Jesus Christ preached about a Kingdom of God. It is a perfect world to come where there is no more hate, violence and greed, everyone knowing how to treat each other by choice and understanding. It is our duty to listen to God and his message is in the Bible.

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV) “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV)

Understanding that the Bible is true and the words are there to learn how to live our lives, now is the time to learn more about our God, his name and the name of His Son, Proverbs 30:4.
