Taming the Tongue

What is the most challenging part of our body?

Yes, it could be the back.

Or the neck.

Or hearing with the ears.

But when it comes down to it, one body part challenges above the rest.

Body Motion

Which one is it?

Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger. James 1:19

Thoughts and Words

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1

Soft Answer

For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:37

Justified Condemnded by Words

Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king, nor in your bedroom curse the rich, for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter. Ecclesiastes 10:20

Thoughts Will Be Known

Try taming your tongue. (James 3:8-10)

Here are several good reasons:

  • A gentle tongue is a tree of life. Proverbs 15:4
  • The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life. Proverbs 10:11
  • The lips of the wise spread knowledge. Proverbs 15:7

Others will thank you for it.

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver. Proverbs 25:11

From the Heart
